The first Dunk Low model made its appearance on the American athletic shoe market in 1985. Originally, Dunk Lows were designed as affordable yet high-quality basketball shoes. Though they've aged out of the basketball courts by now, they continue to enjoy immense popularity in everyday fashion. Over time, it has been proven that these models not only serve their owners well for daily wear but also perform excellently on skateboarding tracks. Due to high demand, Nike released its SB (Skateboard) Dunk product line, which, after its turn-of-the-century debut, is experiencing a renaissance today. But what's the difference? The most noticeable difference between the "regular" Dunk and the SB Dunk models is the shoe's tongue. The SB Dunks have a padded tongue to ensure comfort during sports, while the "regular" Dunks come with a traditional thin tongue. The model's popularity has led to numerous collaborative releases, such as those crafted in partnership with Supreme, Jeff Staple, Stüssy, and Diamond Supply. In the new wave, brands like Off-White and Ben and Jerry's have also created their own Nike Dunk sneakers.
